In 2017 the "counting as high as 100,000" YouTube video went viral. He was 13 years old and used the handle "MrBeast6000". His initial videos featured Let's Plays and videos about estimating other YouTubers' wealth. Donaldson hired his childhood friends to run the company after it started to grow. MrBeast is Donaldson's main YouTube channel. The channel surpassed 100 million subscribers on the 28th of July 2022.
